QUARTZ VS GRANITE

Quartz is one of the hardest and most abundant minerals on earth. It has incredible strength and durability and is stronger than granite. Quartz is also nonporous and nonabsorbent. It naturally eliminates the risk of both bacterial growth and staining caused by the penetration of food, wine or moisture. Keeping with its care-free promise, quartz requires no sealing, polishing or reconditioning … ever! Simply wipe with warm water; It’s that easy.

Engineered stone quartz surfacing is made from approximately 93% natural quartz and 7% polymer resins (by weight). Testing has shown that they retain much of the toughness of quartz but display increased ductility due to the resin, improving impact resistance. Our quartz countertops are custom made and more scratch resistant as well as less porous than natural quartz surfaces, and don’t need to be sealed like other stone surfaces. Due to the presence of the resins, quartz counters are less prone to staining. Quartz countertops are perfect for horizontal and vertical surface finishes such as walls, tub and shower surrounds, fireplaces, and tub decks.

Maintenance Issues With Quartz Countertops Include:

  • Quartz may not withstand the direct transfer of heat from pots and pans and other cooking units such as electric frying pans and griddles, slow cookers, roaster ovens, and heat lamps. Therefore, the use of a closed-weave hot pad or solid trivet like a bread board is always recommended to prevent heating the product.
  • Quartz countertop is not a seamless product; seams are visible. Where there are seams the product pattern and shade will change.
  • Quartz is durable and more resistant to surface damage than other stone. However, all stone can be damaged by force and no stone is chip proof. Objects hitting edges, particularly at sinks or dishwashers, may cause chips. Though a minor knife slip will dull the knife and not harm a quartz countertop, no stone surface is scratch proof. Surface markings are more visible on monotone designs than multi-colored design surfaces.
  • Color blotches are intended on quartz countertops and created into many designs to enhance the natural beauty.
  • Variation in the natural quartz stone color, pattern, size, shape, and shade are unique and inherent characteristics of this product.

Yes we offer granite countertops. Please note that granite, a porous material, is at risk to absorption and staining if not maintained yearly with costly sealers, conditioners, cleaners, and sometimes wax.
